Buying a digital file offers several unique advantages over a physical print. First and foremost, the turnaround time between you placing your order and receiving your personalised design is incredibly fast, often within 1 business day and, in many cases, the same day. This means you can have it printed, framed, and displayed in no time, bypassing any potential postage delays or damages.

We offer 3 turnaround options:

• 1 business day - Order will be fulfilled by the next business day from you placing your order with your photo uploaded (Monday - Friday)

• 12-hour weekDAY rush - Order will be fulfilled within 12 hours of you placing your order with your photo uploaded (Monday - Friday)

• 24-hour weekEND rush - Order will be fulfilled within 24 hours of you placing your order with your photo uploaded (Saturday & Sunday)

One high-resolution JPEG, delivered by email as a Dropbox link. It's print-ready at 300 DPI and works at 8×10", 11×14", 16×20" or 18×24". There's no physical product and nothing is posted — you download the file and print it wherever you like.

When your poster is ready we'll email you a Dropbox link. You don't need a Dropbox account.

3. Click Download at the top of the page
4. The JPEG saves to your device — that's the file you take to a printer

If the link doesn't open or the download won't start, email hello@giftstoprint.com and we'll send the file another way.

Every poster is built around:

• The year — birth year, wedding year, the year you started dating, or the year a career began
• The recipient's name
• A photo of them
• Their date and place of birth
• A personal message along the bottom of the “newspaper”
• The country edition — US, UK, Canada or Australia

No — it's an original design about a whole year, not a reprint of one day's paper.

That's not a shortcut, it's what makes the poster work. The things that bring it to life — the sport, the number ones and the films everyone went to see, what was in fashion, what a pint or a loaf or a house cost — are all measured across a year. A single date simply doesn't have that information attached to it. Build a page from one day and you'd have a handful of headlines and nothing else.

So we research the whole year and lay it out as an aged front page, finished with your photo, their name and your message.

Tell us and we'll fix it. Once you've received your poster, if a name is spelled wrong, the photo isn't sitting right, or the message needs changing, just reply to the email and we'll revise it and send you the corrected file. Revisions are included in the price.

Four: United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. Each uses that country's real headlines, news events and cultural references — and its spelling. UK and Australian editions use British spelling (colour, personalised); US and Canadian editions use American spelling (color, personalized). Pick the one that matches where your recipient is from, and if you're not sure, just ask.

The site lists birthdays at the 1st, 16th, 18th, 21st, 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th, 70th, 80th, 90th and 100th, and wedding anniversaries at the 1st, 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, 30th, 35th, 40th, 45th, 50th, 55th, 60th and 65th. We also make retirement and dating-anniversary posters.

This can be printed on “any” type of media – paper, card, canvas etc

If you’re printing on paper or card, we would suggest using paper/card which has a matte finish. Avoid using any glossy paper as this will detract from the vintage look.

It can be printed at any of the following sizes: 8”x10”, 11”x14”, 16”x20” or 18"x24"

The file prints cleanly at four sizes: 8×10" (a small framed gift), 11×14" (a standard mid-size frame), 16×20" and 18×24" (statement pieces). For a convincing “real newspaper” feel, go for 16×20" or 18×24".

You can print it anywhere — that's the beauty of getting a file. Online photo printers like Shutterfly or Walmart Photo in the US, Snapfish or Photobox in the UK, and Officeworks in Australia will all handle these sizes, as will any high-street print shop. The smaller sizes print fine on a home printer.

Yes. Your purchase includes a personal-use licence, so print as many copies as you like — one for the recipient, one for yourself, spares for family. The only restriction is that the design can't be resold or used commercially.

Yes. Every year's front page is researched and designed by hand. Someone looks up what actually happened that year, decides what belongs on the page, and lays it out so it reads like a real newspaper of the time. Your photo, the name and your message are then set into that page. None of it is auto-generated.

It's used to make your poster and nothing else. You keep ownership of it. We don't share it, sell it, or use it for marketing or AI training. We accept JPG, PNG and HEIC files.

Yes, any time before your poster has been delivered — email hello@giftstoprint.com with your order details and we'll refund you in full to your original payment method. “Delivered” means the moment we email you the download link; once that's been sent, the order can't be cancelled.

Because every poster is personalised and digital, we can't offer refunds or exchanges once your poster has been delivered — that is, once we've emailed you the download link. If something isn't right with it, tell us and we'll revise it. And you can cancel for a full refund any time before then.
